Eglise Saint-Gilles et Saint-Georges de Tarnac
The Romanesque church of Tarnac date for its oldest parts of the twelfth century. It is under the patronage of St George (a shield representing the knight slaying the dragon adorns the front door). The church has the distinction of two ships side by side. At a Romanesque nave a second three-spanwas Gothic nave was added in the 14th century, ending in a flat chevet to the east and a bell tower to the west. You can access the building through a beautiful gate-to-plank open capital in the north, flanked by two bas-reliefs. Inside, reredos and wall painting of the 17th century. Free visit. Open from 9am-noon and 2-6pm.
