Musée d'Archéologie & du Patrimoine Marius Vazeilles

Located in the old Benedictine abbey of the 11th century in the heart of the historic center of Meymac, the museum is a fascinating introduction to the history of the Haute-Corrèze, from the earliest times to the present day. It is addressed to the enlightened and scientific amateurs as well as to the neophytes, to the adults and to the children.

The museum organizes an annual temporary exhibition, highlighting a part of its archaeological or patrimonial pieces, which allows a permanent (re)discovery of the collections. This rich and varied collection was collected by Marius Vazeilles (1881 ? 1973), a humanist who worked to improve the human condition on the Plateau de Millevaches. He was a forester, archaeologist, ethnologist and political activist.

In 2023 a temporary exhibition entitled "Animi et Corpora - spirits and bodies" will be held on the subject of women and Roman Gaul.
