Site archéologique de Tintignac

A major site for understanding Gallic civilization and its interaction with the Roman world. The discovery of the Gallic temple dating from the second century BC, located beneath the fanum, and the objects found there (carnyx and zoomorphic helmets), has shed light on the religious rites of the Gauls and their mastery of metallurgical techniques. The luxurious Gallo-Roman buildings that were subsequently erected provide further insight into the process of assimilation of the Gallic people into the Empire. However, Tintignac is far from having revealed all its secrets.
