Castle ruins: Tour du Trésor or Tour de l’Horloge, 11C rectangular keep with guardroom, and 12-13C Tour César (watch-tower with exceptional views of the Dordogne Valley and Monts du Cantal). The magnificent main castle building once stood on the site of the present gardens. Classified as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”, Turenne was the seat of a viscounty that remained independent of the French Kingdom right up until 1738.
Open in April, May, June, September and October: open daily, 10am-noon and 2-6pm. July and August: open daily, 10am-7pm. Out of season, open Sunday, 2-5pm. Duration: 30min. Entrance fee. Guided tours for groups by prior arrangement.
