Ruines gallo-romaines des Cars

The Les Cars archaeological site is one of the most remarkable ancient sites in the Limousin. Between moorland and forest, on the Plateau de Millevaches, a villa and two temple tombs tell the story of a history that goes back almost 2,000 years. The identity of the owners is unknown. But is that the most important thing? Here, for example, the site is undefended and inordinately luxurious: surprising, isn't it?
Probably a sign of a long period of peace and wealth? There are surprises for everyone, young and old, history buffs, those curious about construction techniques, agriculture, water management, religious rites, heritage, enigmas? and even hygiene! So, throughout the visit, the Les Cars site tells us almost as much about ourselves as it does about the Roman imperial period.
