Slate quarrying in Corrèze dates back to the 19th century, when up to 250 workers were employed every day. This know-how, emblematic of the region, almost disappeared when the company went bankrupt in 1974. But in 1989, the Travassac quarry reopened, marking the rebirth of an entire part of the local heritage. Less than ten years later, the Allassac quarry followed suit.
Today, this company embodies the transmission of an ancestral craft. Taken over in 2022, it now employs 13 people and runs two quarries as well as a store. It perpetuates a unique know-how, quarrying and shaping slate for roofing, but also for interior and exterior decoration.
Through its creations, this company with the Origine Corrèze label showcases a noble, local material, the symbol of demanding craftsmanship
